Transmission Investment are delighted to announce that will support a joint bid of Red Rock Power Limited and Eni forming a new 50/50 partnership in the forthcoming ScotWind offshore leasing round.
ScotWind is the first round of Offshore Wind Leasing in Scottish waters launched by Crown Estate Scotland in June 2020. Through this process Crown Estate Scotland will lease areas of the seabed around Scotland for wind farm developments. Developers apply to the scheme and, if successful, will be granted the seabed rights to build wind farms in Scottish waters.
As a result of ScotWind, 10GW of new generating capacity could be built over the next decade which will contribute to reaching Scotland’s target to reach net zero emissions by 2045.
The procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of the resulting pipeline of wind farm projects could bring billions of pounds in investment and new jobs to Scotland.
The application window for registered applicants opened in January 2021, and closes on Friday 16 July to be followed by a period of evaluation of the bids. Results of the bids are expected in early January 2021, when Option Agreements will be offered to the successful parties.
Transmission Investment Project Director James Dickson welcoming the announcement comments: “Transmission Investment are delighted to be joining forces with Eni and Red Rock Power for the ScotWind leasing round. Through our unique experience and capabilities we continue to grow and build vital industry relationships to enable confident investment in complex infrastructure, for ourselves and for others.”
This represents a great opportunity for Transmission Investment to support such a compelling partnership that combines wind farm development and offshore expertise, whilst contributing to the Net Zero transition in Scotland.
