We are delighted to announce that Transmission Investment has opened a new regional office in Inverness, Scotland, following a succession of recent activities in Scotland.
In the OFTO sector, Ofgem has started the S8A licence consultation period for the Beatrice OFTO, leading to licence award and asset transfer in early August 2021. Beatrice OFTO will be the first OFTO in Scotland. Transmission Investment, through its partnership in Transmission Capital Partners (TCP), is also shortlisted to bid for another Scottish OFTO, Moray East. We look forward to celebrating with our partners in TCP, and to our Scottish portfolio continuing to grow.
In the interconnector sector, our LirIC Interconnector Project team is developing a new HVDC sub-sea electricity interconnector between the Belfast region in Northern Ireland and the Ayrshire region in Scotland. The project will provide up to 700MW of further capacity between the Irish Integrated Single Energy Market (I-SEM) and the GB wholesale electricity market. LirIC will connect the European and British electricity networks but exist wholly within the UK.
Our Inverness office will be the Scottish base of our local asset management and development teams. Our first Scottish office will support our growing transmission business in the region and confirms our commitment to contribute to the expansion of the Scottish electricity sector in general, and offshore wind industry in particular.
