Transmission Capital Partners was declared the preferred bidder for the Moray East offshore transmission licence on 7th March 2022. TC Moray East OFTO Ltd will be established as a special purpose company to acquire the Moray East offshore transmission assets.

Moray East OFTO is a 220kV 3-cable connection to a 950MW offshore windfarm in the outer Moray Firth, connecting at New Deer substation in Aberdeenshire. There are three offshore substations each connected to the onshore substation by an export cable ranging between 91km and 98km in length, coming ashore at Inverboyndie Bay. Moray East OFTO is unique in that its connection to the onshore transmission system at New Deer has initially been made at 275kV but will be modified to a 400kV connection in 2023.

The Moray East project is expected to be acquired in 2022/3 with an estimated transfer value of £648m.
